Moodle
This page outlines the training offered by the elearning team both at Canterbury and Medway. We provide regularly scheduled training sessions for differing levels of proficiency. In addition, we can provide these training sessions, or bespoke training sessions, on an ad-hoc basis within academic Schools or for groups of people. Contact your FLT if you'd like to know more. The different sessions are detailed below.
Moodle:Essentials
Moodle:Essentials provides everything you need to know when using Moodle for the first time, and is recommended for new members of staff and existing staff who have not had much experience of Moodle. This 90-minute session covers:
- Login and orientation
- Module layout
- Rollover
- Adding and managing content
- Requesting CLA-scanned book chapters
- Availability

Moodle:Interactive
Moodle:Interactive is for those who are already comfortable with the essentials and would like to try some of Moodle's more advanced features. This 90-minute session covers:
- Groups & Groupings
- Forums
- Questionnaires

Moodle:Multimedia
In this series of training sessions we'll show you where to find audio and video content you can use with your Moodle modules. In addition we'll show you how you can generate your own audio and video and explain some of the copyright issues surrounding third-party content. - Video (2hrs) - Introducing different types of video recording hardware, how to edit your recordings and the different ways to display your content in Moodle.
- Audio (2hrs) - Introducing different types of audio recording hardware, how to edit your recordings and the different ways to display your content in Moodle.
- Third-Party Content (2hrs) - Where to find existing multimedia content and how you can bring these sources into your Moodle module. Also covers some of the copyright implications of using third-party content.
Moodle:Assessment
This series of training sessions is for those who would like to use Moodle to gauge their students' understanding of the module content, in a formative or summative way. Click on the session title (and log in) to view training dates or book a session. The two sessions are:
- Assignments (90 mins) - This session deals with creating and managing Moodle and Turnitin assignments, including understanding the originality report and an introduction to Turnitin's online marking tool, GradeMark.
- Quizzes (90 mins) - In this session you'll learn how to write effective quiz questions and how to create self-marking quizzes in Moodle.
