PGCHE

National Recognition

The programme is recognised nationally by the Higher Education Academy. Successful completion of the PGCHE means that you are automatically eligible for Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy . As well as conferring national recognition, this can help you in the development of your academic career, and give you access to debates about the future of the profession and the shaping of national Higher Education policy. To find out more about how to become a Fellow, visit the HE Academy website. You can download an application form from the 'Accredited Programmes' web page there.

Accreditation by the HE Academy was most recently renewed in June 2009. To qualify for accreditation, the programme has in each case been evaluated by a panel of trained accreditors made up of experienced practitioners drawn from across the UK higher education sector. We have been required to show that the programme enables you to develop and demonstrate professional competence in the following areas:

    1. Design and planning or learning activities and /or programmes of study
    2. Teaching and/or supporting student learning
    3. Assessment and giving feedback to learners
    4. Developing effective environments for student support and guidance
    5. Integration of scholarship, research and professional activities with teaching and supporting learning
    6. Evaluation of practice and continuing professional development

The Register is currently being reviewed by the Academy. Latest details of its deliberations are on the HE Academy website
