Access and opening hours

Anyone is welcome to visit Special Collections, but an appointment is necessary to view material.

Opening Hours

Monday-Friday: 9.30am–1pm, 2pm–4.30pm

From time to time it may be necessary to close the reading room for teaching purposes. Please check the Library news for the latest information.

Requesting material to consult

Please contact Special Collections staff at least half a day ahead of your visit and give details of the material you wish to access. To request items for Monday morning, please contact Special Collections staff before 5pm on the previous Friday. You can request material online.

Special Collections material can only be accessed in our reading room and is not available for borrowing.

Group teaching facilities

Seminars for groups of up to 16 people can be arranged in the reading room, and material from our collections can be made available to support them. Please give as much notice as possible to ensure the room is available, and provide details of the material required.
