Accelerate your career prospects

Employers expect more than academic qualifications from new employees. In addition to our reputation for delivering international business expertise and teaching, Kent Business School offers an excellent package of careers support to our students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We help you gain the knowledge, skills and expertise to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.

KBS has a dedicated Placements and Employability team. This team covers campuses at Canterbury and Medway, through the bespoke "Backpack to Briefcase" employability programme. The programme supports all business students at every level in their search for jobs, internships or placements - by focusing on both recruitment and soft skills development. There is additional 1:1 support available with our Lecturer in Careers and Employability, a qualified careers consultant.

Each KBS programme provides ways to apply knowledge through interaction with existing businesses, through activities including; student implants, volunteering, work-based projects, guest speakers, networking and student enterprise.

For our undergraduate year-in-industry and year-abroad students in particular, Kent Business School links with businesses, partners and leading institutions to provide relevant, real-world business experience. By taking a full year in industry on a professional work placement, students gain an understanding of how their chosen subject area operates in practice.

The success of our careers focus is demonstrated in our rankings for graduate prospects. And on average, over 90% of our students are employed or in further study six months after graduation.

Our alumni work in a wide range of organisations (and many in their own businesses), including:

  • Apple
  • Bloomberg
  • Boeing
