PRESS RELEASE

Kent Business School professor recognised for his work on leadership

Dennis Tourish, Professor of Leadership at Kent Business School, has been recognised for his contribution to the study of leadership by the Leadership Trust. Based at Ross-on-Wye, the Leadership Trust is widely regarded as a premier source of research, consulting and programme delivery in leadership. To celebrate its 35th anniversary it is founding the Fellowship of the Leadership Trust Foundation. This body will recognise the achievements of a small number of people who have worked with the Trust or made a significant contribution to the study of leadership over the years. Professor Tourish has been selected as one of the founding fellows, in recognition of his work in leadership. The fellowship will be formally awarded in March next year at an Inaugural Dinner for Fellows held at the Trust’s headquarters.

Dennis joined Kent Business School in October 2009. His main research interests lie in transformational models of leadership and processes of leadership development, and the relationship between internal organisational communication and organisational effectiveness. He has worked with universities in Australia, in Norway and Ireland.  He has participated in master classes for high profile business leaders in Scotland.  Dennis has vast experience working with the public sector as well as with industry and he is a regular invited speaker at professional conferences. He is the co-author or co-editor of seven major books on leadership and communication issues. His most recent book is “Auditing Organisational Communication”, now in its second edition.  Dennis is a member of the British Academy of Management and the Academy of Management.
