Talent & Organisational Development

Talent & Organisational Development

Kent is committed to providing a range of learning and development opportunities to all staff.

Our Commitment

Our Talent and Organisational Development team provides a range of opportunities for all members of staff across the University.

We offer a "blended" model of learning, combining in person and online training sessions with greater access to e-learning, including a suite of modules available on our Staff Training Platform.

Development Opportunities

We offer development opportunities in Leadership and Management, Career Planning, Job Skills and Personal Effectiveness.

We can also support you through an apprenticeship standard while you work with us.

Which development opportunities to choose?

You are encouraged to engage in development opportunities each year for personal and professional growth. Of course, everyone’s development requirements are different.

To identify activities that will most benefit you in your role, talk with:

  • Your line manager, as part of your appraisal (RPD);
  • Your colleagues, about what they have found useful;
  • The Talent and Organisational Development team.

You can also find the latest up to date information on the Talent and Organisational SharePoint page.

Leadership and Management

Our offer is aimed to enhance leadership capability and confidence, and equip leaders and managers with the skills to meet the University’s strategic priorities.

Personal Effectiveness and Career Planning

Core learning to help your personal and professional development in the workplace, including mandatory training and optional soft skills courses.

Job skills

Developing greater competency in day-to-day workplace activities such as setting performance objectives, facilitation skills, coaching skills, conflict resolution and statistical analysis.

Training is available to staff and students to raise awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity issues, and to inform you about your rights and responsibilities at the University of Kent.

Apprenticeships

 The University of Kent proudly supports employee apprenticeships, offering practical pathways to success in various fields.
