What was university really like for your lecturers before they became academics?Join us for an informal and relaxed evening where you can meet academics from across different areas of the University and hear about their own experiences of university, their journeys into academia and the things they wish they had known as students.As part of the Belonging & Beyond programme, this event is designed to create an open conversation about university life, belonging and the student experience. Our academics will share honest reflections on things they found challenging, how they navigated university, what helped them feel like they belonged and the advice they would give to their younger selves.There will be a chance to ask your own questions too! Whether you want to know more about studying at Kent, building relationships with academics, finding your community, overcoming challenges or simply what university life is actually like.Before the session, join us for food and informal networking, giving you the opportunity to meet other new students, chat with staff and start building connections before the Q&A begins.This event is open to all incoming students, and we particularly welcome students from ethnically marginalised backgrounds to join the conversation and share their experiences.Come along, grab some food, meet other students and academics, and hear the stories behind the people teaching you at Kent.
