Rebecca is the Open Research Officer with the Library. She provides specialist support in developing and delivering the Library offer for researcher focused services across the research lifecycle.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Kent in 2017 having studied Politics and International Relations. She then spent the next couple of years as a History Teacher before completing a Masters in Museum Studies.
In 2022 Rebecca joined the University of Kent as an apprentice. She worked as a Collections Management Assistant whilst completing a level 3 Library, Information and Archives Services Assistant apprenticeship. On completion, she spent some time working as a Library Services Administrator before making the move to the Open Research Team.
As part of her role, Rebecca works with the Kent Academic Repository (KAR) – the University’s institutional research repository. KAR has been adapted to support technicians through the addition of CRediT taxonomy which allows for roles of technicians to be recognised in research publications. Rebecca and the Open Research Team are also interested in working with technicians on ideas and case studies on improving the archiving and visibility of research outputs.
