Dr Abigail Jackson

About

Abigail graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science in 2015. It was during her undergraduate degree that she developed an interest in applied sport and exercise psychology which led her to complete an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Greenwich and a PGDip in Applied Psychology at London Metropolitan University. Abigail then went on to complete a Sport and Exercise Psychology PhD titled ‘Predicting Lifelong Participation in Physical Activity: The Role of Dispositional and Contextual Motivation in Physical Education’, completed in 2024.

Abigail has completed her stage 2 training with the British Psychology Society, and is now a HPCP registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist.

Abigail has worked with a number of Category One Football Academies, British Canoeing and Semi-professional rugby clubs, along with elite and recreational athletes. 

Research interests

  • Supporting the promotion of physical activity of adolescents
  • The motivational climate of academy training environments
  • Mental health and wellbeing of athletes.
