This scholarship is for applicants for a PhD in French Literature and Culture for entry in September 2025.

These scholarships include a doctoral stipend (equivalent to the Research Councils UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend, 2025/26 rate is £20,780) tuition fees at the home or international rate and access to a research training support grant.

  • Open to applicants looking to study for a PhD in French Literature and Culture with the Language Centre.
  • This award is open to both Home and International candidates.
  • BA in a relevant subject.
  • MA qualifications are desirable.

The late Professor Philip Robinson very kindly made arrangements during his lifetime to provide a legacy to the University of Kent in order to support postgraduate research students in the field of French Literature and Culture.

How to apply

  • Complete an application to apply for a PhD on Kent Vision. This will include a research proposal explaining your project, a personal statement, a CV, an academic transcript and the names of two referees.
  • Complete the scholarships form to confirm you would like to be considered for this scholarship.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to an interview.
