We are seeking current healthcare professionals who wish to undertake an MSc Applied Health and Care Research Course. Funding is open to the following applicants:
Nurses, midwives, social workers, social care, local authority or allied health professionals who are:
Working towards or recently registered with (excluding doctors and dentists).
You will need to be working part-time to be able to complete part-time study or have support in place from your employer for study leave. This will be discussed at interview.
You will also require a minimum 2:2 honours degree in the Social Sciences.
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are funding places on the MSc Applied Health and Care Research course within the Centre for Health and Service Studies (CHSS) at the University of Kent. The course is for current healthcare professionals, giving you the skills to design, carry out and publish health and care research.
You will undertake six taught modules. Three will be core research methods modules covering qualitative, quantitative, and applied health and care research and evaluation. Optional modules will be selected to complete the taught component.
The final element will be 60-credit research dissertation.
The duration of this course is 2 years part-time starting in September 2026
Once you have submitted an application of study to MSc Applied Health and Care Research , you will then be able to apply for the scholarship through your portal. You will be required to submit a statement of no more than 500 words detailing your suitability for the scholarship. If you require employer sign off to reduce hours or be released for study leave, you must also complete this FORM and attach to your application . The closing date will be 31st May, 2026. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis following receipt and review of a full scholarship application.
