If you receive an offer and accept your offer by 13 June 2025, you will be considered for a tuition fee discount scholarship of £5,000. This scholarship will be available for three years of full-time, registered PhD study. There are four scholarships available for students commencing PhD study at Kent Law School in September 2025. Decisions about scholarship allocation will be based on the quality of your PhD application and your potential to make a positive contribution to the research culture and environment of Kent Law School.

POINTS TO NOTE:
The Law School has established funds to support overseas students who study for a PhD in Law or a PhD in Socio-Legal Studies at the Canterbury campus. Overseas students from any country that receives Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the OECD who undertake a full-time PhD in Law or PhD in Socio-Legal Studies at the Canterbury Campus of the University of Kent are eligible for this award. The list of countries is extensive, including Thailand, India, Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, China, Turkey, and many more.
This award provides a tuition fee discount of £5,000 for three years of registered PhD study to entrants who meet the eligibility conditions stated above.
If you have received your offer to study on the PhD in Law or PhD in Socio-Legal Studies programme and have not yet accepted your place, please do so to be considered for the award. You will find out whether you have been awarded the scholarship before needing to pay the international deposit.
There is no application process. All eligible applicants who have been offered a place and accepted that offer by 13 June 2025, 23.59 BST will be considered for the scholarship. If you are awarded the scholarship, you will then need to pay your tuition fee deposit by 31 July 2025, 23.59 BST, in order to secure the scholarship.
