Postgraduate study

We offer both taught and research degrees at Master's level, as well as the opportunities for extended research that lead to a PhD.

With strong international reputations, our staff provide well-designed projects, research training and enthusiasm within a stimulating environment. Recent investment in modern laboratory equipment and computational facilities accelerates the work carried out by our research centres and groups.

A range of financial support options, including a current funded PhD opportunity to work with Professor Adrian Podoleanu on a project on Optical Coherence Tomography. We also offer exciting research project opportunities for self-funded MSc students.

Funding

We are offering two £3000 scholarships exclusively for Kent students looking to #StayOn and #StandOut at Kent:

“Tomorrow’s World” Excellence Scholarship

  • For current Kent Undergraduates with a first class degree continuing to Master’s study at any of Kent’s locations (UK, EU and overseas fees payers).

“Tomorrow’s World” Civic Mission Scholarship

  • For students with a First class Honours degree from the University of Kent who can demonstrate how their Master’s will enable them to contribute to communities in Kent and Medway during their further studies and in the future (Home, EU and overseas fees payers).

"Tomorrow's World" BAME in Higher Education Scholarship

  • For current Kent Undergraduates with a 2.1 or first class degree continuing to Master’s study at any of Kent’s locations (UK Fee paying students)

  • For applicants who identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME). Kent understands, at times, that ‘BAME’ does not fully reflect the complexity or nuances of diversity within the UK. Here, we use ‘BAME’ to highlight racial identities critically underrepresented within Higher Education—a focus this scholarship is intended to address.

There are also a wide range of other funding available for all students.
