Andrew Morrell joined SPS in 2015 following a 20 year career working as an R&D scientist within the pharmaceutical industry. After completing a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Manchester he carried out post-doctoral research in the USA with Prof. Sir Derek Barton before taking up a position as a medicinal chemist at Parke-Davis Neuroscience Research Centre in Cambridge. Following a move to Pfizer at Sandwich, Kent he continued to carry out research in medicinal chemistry, with an emphasis on developing the application of high throughput synthesis, analysis and purification techniques to drug discovery and development. He has published over 30 articles and patents in the field of synthetic and medicinal chemistry.
His current research interests include the application of rapid analytical methods and the development of continuous-flow synthetic methodology for the preparation of novel drug-antibody conjugates as targeted drug delivery systems.
