Kent’s Director of Marketing and Recruitment, Simone Davies, has provided her five top tips and advice for prospective students entering Clearing 2021.

She said: ‘Clearing is a great opportunity to explore your options and consider other possibilities whether you’ve had a re-think about what and where you want to study, your grades are different to what you expected or you are applying for the first time.’

Simone’s top tips and advice are:

  1. Start researching Clearing options in advance. This will save you time when it comes to Results Day and make the process easier once you know your results. Think about course content, work and study abroad opportunities and other academic and student support aspects.
  2. Being prepared is key. Have an updated copy of your personal statement, your UCAS ID and qualifications to hand. Have a list of questions to ask.
  3. Tomorrow’s world will be different from the one we know. You might want to think about what skills you will need in the changing working world and the difference you would like to make to impact the future.
  4. Breathe – take stock, think about what you want to do and where you want to do it. When you receive an offer, you will have time to think it over before you make a decision. Consider the full picture of your choice – from employability and quality teaching, through to health and wellbeing support and clubs and societies.
  5. Anything is possible if you have ambition and an open mind. You will build lifelong friendships and create the connections that will shape your future. This is your opportunity – choosing a university through Clearing is just the beginning.

Simone added: ‘We have a great, friendly and knowledgeable team answering calls on our hotline and we’re here to help. We receive all kinds of calls, and sometimes having a quick chat can really make a difference. We’ll be posting lots of advice and our students will be sharing their experiences on FacebookYouTubeInstagram and Twitter. You can visit our campuses or have a look around virtually, with videos and tours available on the Kent Virtual Open Events website. We look forward to welcoming you in September.’

Prospective students can also find out more about Clearing at Kent from second-year student Sabrina, who explains all through the University’s Clearing Hologram.
