Jessica Neil-Boss
Jessica is currently a PhD Student in Conservation Science in the School of Natural Sciences. Jessica's PhD is 'Understanding and optimising local nature recovery networks in England.'
In order to fulfil international conservation commitments, the UK government has set several ambitious targets in relation biodiversity recovery and conservation. To this end, each county has produced Local Nature Recovery Strategies, which will inform where to target nature recovery actions within the region.
Focusing on the 9 counties in south-east England, Jess' project will use systematic conservation planning to explore how regional priorities differ, how these strategies combine to form an ecologically representative network, how national biodiversity, infrastructure, climate change and food security targets should be devolved to a regional level, and how trade-offs should be made.
Supervised by Professor Bob Smith and Professor Zoe Davies.
