Dr Matthew Linkie MBE

About

Matt works in the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Andes, Amazon & Orinoco region, covering Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. He is responsible for providing strategic thinking, management support and technical assistance to support delivery of a region strategy, prioritizing: 1) coordination of cross-cutting themes (Forests & Climate Change, Counter-Wildlife Trafficking, One Health, Science, Sustainable Finance and Freshwater Fisheries); 2) implementation of regional projects and support to country programs; 3) maintaining and diversifying a global donor network; and, 4) ensuring the ongoing capacity building of WCS staff. Matt completed an MSc (1999) and PhD (2003) at DICE on tiger conservation in Sumatra, which led him to working in the Southeast Asian region for over 20 years. He’s been the Asia Coordinator for the IUCN Wild Pig Specialist Group for nine years and actively participating in regional working groups on African swine fever. He currently lives in Colombia.
