About

Camilla Sugden is an Innovation Associate with the E3 Sharing Space for Nature programme at the University of Kent.

She has been a civil servant in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for over 20 years with postings to Sri Lanka, DRC and Kenya. Originally a conflict adviser working on peacebuilding, UN peacekeeping, security sector reform, she has also worked on UK’s foreign and development relations with countries in the Middle East and South Asia – nature and climate form an important part of this, along with trade, democracy and human rights, and security issues.

Camilla is currently on leave from the FCDO and applying her policy, programme management and other capabilities to DICE’s E3 work, particularly researching nature-based economies in Kent. She will take her nature and climate learning back to the FCDO to help inform international policy.

She is a keen but amateur birder and volunteers at Stodmarsh Nature Reserve.
