Short courses for international students

Whether you want to get a head start in your studies or need to upgrade your qualifications, there are a variety of options available.

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) prepares international students for academic study on a range of undergraduate degree programmes.

If you complete your IFP course successfully and meet the progression rules, you are guaranteed a place on an undergraduate degree course.

IFP students are full members of the University with access to University accommodation and all academic, welfare, social and sport facilities on campus.

Pre-sessional courses

These specially designed courses prepare international students for study at Kent. As well as improving your English, you develop skills in:

  • UK academic culture
  • academic reading, writing, critical thinking and using academic sources
  • note-taking in lectures
  • speaking in seminars and delivering presentations; and using the facilities, IT systems and e-learning platforms on campus.

Summer schools and short courses

Summer schools can be studied for personal interest, professional training or as preparation for further learning. We offer a range of subjects including Architecture, Business, Psychology and more.

We also offer a range of short summer courses for both groups and individuals.

Gain academic credit

Our short-term programmes (including Junior Year Abroad and Erasmus exchange) allow international students to spend a year or a semester at Kent, and gain academic credit from a leading British university.

Choose from a range of programmes to suit your academic ability, level of proficiency in English and the amount of time you would like to spend abroad.
