Computer Science is a rapidly evolving subject that touches every aspect of our lives. 

At the School of Computing you’ll work with outstanding academics who share your passion and can guide you towards new areas in your field.

Taught programmes

Our specialist taught degrees allow you to sharpen your focus and hone your skills in areas including cyber security and artificial intelligence. You can also study a computer science conversion degree, which gives graduates in any subject the chance to gain computing skills. 

Full-time taught Master’s students can also undertake a work placement of between eight and 50 weeks. For Tier 4 students, the placement is available for a year only. The experience you gain on your placement gives you an extra edge when applying for jobs in the future.      

Research programmes

From systems security, programming languages and communications, to computational intelligence, memory management, and interdisciplinary work with biosciences and psychology, a research degree in Computer Science will set you at the forefront of technological development, allowing you to make a difference in tomorrow's world.

Scholarship funding 

The School of Computing is delighted to have been awarded £160,000 for 2023-24 scholarships to encourage more students into the UK Artificial Intelligence workforce. This will be 16 x £10,000 scholarships for each year for students accepted on the MSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) conversion course.
