Tell us about your career path since graduation.

Following graduation, I self-funded the LPC at BPP University. I worked for BPP as their liaison officer during my time at Kent to offset some of the cost.

I secured my training contract (TC) during the summer prior to my student visa expiring, my TC was acquired through networking, whereby my mentor at Kent introduced me to the firm and they created a training contract in order to hire me. My TC occurred during covid and was extended for 6 months due to being furloughed.

When I qualified, I moved to another high street firm practicing in residential conveyancing before moving to Birketts Agriculture team in August 2023.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

I am fortunate that there really is no typical day in the agricultural arena. However, I can often be found attending clients farms, drafting leases, dealing with finances, or working on our natural capital team.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

My highlight has absolutely been securing my work visa in Kent when traditionally this was not possible. I am really proud of the connections and career that I have built and fostered since graduating from law school.

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

I absolutely credit my mentor, John Nee, for assisting with work experience during law school and my continued success to the long term friendships I have established with colleagues at Kent.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

Don’t discount networking and ensure that you focus on what you bring to the table, rather than what can be offered to you.

Do you have a favourite memory from your time at Kent?

I am grateful for the platform Kent afforded me to engage in constructive discussions and explore my areas of interest.

Are you still in touch with other Kent alumni or academics?

I am fortunate to continue to assist and attend a number of Kent alumni events, and have maintained long term friendships with Kent Alumni and academics.
