About

Shujun Li is an Academic and Research Staff Representative on the University Council. 

He is Professor of Cyber Security at the School of Computing, University of Kent. He is also Director of the Institute of Cyber Security for Society (iCSS), which represents the University of Kent as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) and an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE), both recognised by the UK Government. His research interests are around interdisciplinary topics covering cyber security and privacy, human factors, cybercrime and online harms, social media analytics, cyber and data protection law, and practical applications of AI and NLP techniques in the above topics. He has published over 100 research papers at international journals and conferences, and received five Best Paper Awards, including the 2022 IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems Guillemin-Cauer Best Paper Award. He is currently on the editorial boards of a number of international journals, and he has been on the organising or technical program committees of over 100 international conferences and workshops. He plays an active role in multiple local and regional community building bodies, particularly, he co-founded KMCC (Kent & Medway Cyber Cluster) and chairs its Steering Group, he co-founded and coordinates activities of KMCSN (Kent & Medway CyberSchools Network), and he co-founded and oversees the operation of KMCS3 (Kent & Medway Cyber Security Student Society). He is also an active member of multiple professional bodies, e.g., a Fellow of BCS, a Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and the VP for IT and Governance of ABCP (Association of British Chinese Professors).
