The University of Kent Forensic Science Society is a warm, welcoming and exciting society with many members from lots of different academic backgrounds. Our aim is to provide a relaxed but academic environment that instils you with opportunities and experiences which you may never be able to have outside of the society and which will help you when you come to the end of your “university journey”.
We are an academic society which attracts people from all different courses; we have guest lecturers from multiple disciplines aimed either in or around the subject of forensic science. This year alone we've had some wonderful talks from a document examiner, computer forensic, traffic police, forensic fire investigator, ex forensic investigator, and toxicologist to name a few.
We also strive to provide members of our society with some brilliant day trips and nights out to get to know each other and unwind. So far this year we have dressed up in hazmat suits for our Halloween social in town, got down and dirty in our work clothes for our “dirty minds” social and even got on our “geek chic” for a spot of bowling at Margate. We also have many more exciting trips in the pipeline like a trip to Maidstone ballistics range, go ape and laser tag.
We meet every Monday evening at 6pm in ELT2, so come and give us a look-in even if it is just to say hi! If there are any questions with regard to the society or you would be interested in giving a talk then feel free to contact me at: ukcforensics@live.co.uk
SpaceSoc is one of the oldest and most popular societies at the University of Kent. As the majority of our members are studying physics related courses, we’re a great way to get to know other physics students while enjoying some astronomy with our telescopes housed in our very own dome on campus.
We organise space and physics themed trips, build and launch our own rockets, enjoy quizzes, science fiction cinema, barbecues, fancy dress socials and a whole lot more.
The price for membership is only £3 for the whole year. If you would like to join SpaceSoc then visit our page on the Kent Union website at www.kentunion.co.uk/societies/spacesoc or contact Robin Taylor for more information at rst4@kent.ac.uk
