Physics Society

About Us

We are a society for anyone interested in science, focusing primarily on Physics.

There will be loads of exciting events going on throughout the year, from the soon to be annual Science Fair to an extensive variety of socials which will give you a chance to meet many new people across the different courses. Anyone is welcome to join us every other Monday night in KBar for our PhySoc mixers, and we have a vast array of challenge based nights and pub crawls for all our members.

We will be hosting talks every few weeks, where you can come and listen to specialist speakers from a variety of fields, and even hear your favourite lecturers talk to you about the research they've completed in a relaxed environment - you won't have to take notes! ;)

We are primarily an education based society but that doesn't mean we can't have fun and really enjoy what we do! As a brand new society, the possibilities are endless as to what we can venture into next. If this sounds like the society for you, please email us for more information at physockent@gmail.com.

Please also join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to keep updated with all our events.

Membership

Membership costs £5 for UKC students, and £6 for non students.

With your membership you will gain access to all PhySoc run talks for free, be able to sign up to our revision sessions and have the chance to purchase a discounted ticket to the Christmas PhySoc meal. More benefits will come with your membership as per events being run.

SpaceSoc

SpaceSoc is one of the oldest and most popular societies at the University of Kent. As the majority of our members are studying physics related courses, we’re a great way to get to know other physics students while enjoying some astronomy with our telescopes housed in our very own dome on campus.
We organise space and physics themed trips, build and launch our own rockets, enjoy quizzes, science fiction cinema, barbecues, fancy dress socials and a whole lot more.

The price for membership is only £3 for the whole year. If you would like to join SpaceSoc then visit our page on the Kent Union website at www.kentunion.co.uk/societies/spacesoc or contact Robin Taylor for more information at rst4@kent.ac.uk
