The Physics Society are an education based society for anyone interested in science, focusing primarily on physics. We cater to both physics students and those who don’t study it, but are keen to learn more.
We host talks every week, ranging across all topics and levels of difficulty for you to attend, as well as hands on sessions. We’re open to suggestions from our members too, so if you want to see a talk on a particular topic, just email us and let us know!
Join us every week for our vast array of socials, from pub crawls to movie nights, where you can meet likeminded people and just relax. We will be posting details of our socials on both our Facebook page and website, so make sure you keep an eye out there for what we’re up to.
PhySoc are proud to announce that from September 2015, we will be introducing our Women in Physics subsection. Open to all of our members (not just women!), we will be hosting talks tailored towards overcoming the issues women face in STEM industries, whilst giving our members the tools and expertise to take on the science world and pursue postgraduate studies. For more information, check out the WiP page on the PhySoc website or tweet us at @UKCWiP.
Whether you’re a current University of Kent student, you’re looking to join us in September or you’re an alumni, please don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries, concerns or comments.
Membership costs £5 for current UKC students, and £6 for non-students.
With your membership, you will gain access to all of our fantastic talks and events, and will be given priority access to any of our paid events. It will also go towards helping us to fund all the work we do over the year. Most of our events are free to attend, including our annual Science Fayre, and its the support of our members that allows us to continue doing this. Thanks in advance, from the PhySoc team!
SpaceSoc is one of the oldest and most popular societies at the University of Kent. As the majority of our members are studying physics related courses, we’re a great way to get to know other physics students while enjoying some astronomy with our telescopes housed in our very own dome on campus.
We organise space and physics themed trips, build and launch our own rockets, enjoy quizzes, science fiction cinema, barbecues, fancy dress socials and a whole lot more.
The price for membership is only £5 for the whole year. If you would like to join SpaceSoc then visit our page on the Kent Union website at http://www.kentunion.co.uk/organisation/7045/ or visit our Facebook page for more information.
