Our Special Collections and Archives are for everyone and can be used in workshops, exhibitions and much more. This page gives an overview of some recent examples of engagement but if you have an idea in mind please do get in touch.

Group visits

We can host group visits in our seminar room for up to 15 people (and can repeat sessions if your party is larger). Sessions can either provide an overview of our material or focus on a particular topic or collection. See our Education page for more information.

Exhibitions

We regularly work with academics, students and external groups to curate exhibitions that either feature our material within a wider theme or focus on a topic using our collections. Please see the Templeman Gallery blog for more information. If you are interested in borrowing material for use in an exhibition elsewhere please look at our Loans form.

Conference visits

The variety of materials in the collections provides excellent support for conferences via display, visits or receptions. There is a seminar room near the Special Collections & Archives Reading Room that we can book for your use, subject to availability.

Admissions and applicant days

Bringing potential Kent students into our collections is a great way to make their visit to campus a memorable one and we can support this via either displays in our Reading Room or through presentations.

Lectures and pop-up events

We are always looking to support activities and events across campus and can design small-scale events to support a lecture or talk. We've recently designed sessions to celebrate the launch of new collections, academic book launches, and wider engagement initiatives such as Black History Month.

This is just a sample of the types of engagement we can help support. Please see our blog for latest updates and information on events - or for inspiration to create your own engagement activity using our material.
