Graduate opportunities in Biosciences at Canterbury

The School of Biosciences has once again been successful in securing funding from the University, bio-industry collaborators, BBSRC and MRC for up to 11 PhD studentships to start in September 2010. The studentships will be allocated to the projects below and are dependent on attracting the best graduates available. All are principally based within the School of Biosciences at the Canterbury campus but may involve placement at collaborating institutions where indicated. All prospective candidates are reminded of the following eligibility requirements:

  • For BBSRC and MRC studentships – all awards are made at Home/EU fees level and prospective candidates MUST have been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to starting the PhD if they are to qualify for the full stipend element of the studentship.
  • For University of Kent studentships - all awards are made at Home/EU fees level but the residency criteria outlined above for BBSRC and MRC are not a pre-requisite. However, it would ordinarily be expected that nominees are Home/EU students as the awards are fixed at this fee level.

All projects will be funded for either 3 or 4 years and all candidates will initially be registered for an MPhil.

  Deadline: 25th June 2010

When applying please quote the project title, the name of the supervisor if given. If interested in more than one project please list a MAXIMUM of 3 in your order of preference. For further advice and details please contact BioPhD2010@kent.ac.uk
