Unlock the universe

Our large multi-purpose lab enable you to perform a range of experimental and project work. It is equipped with computers, a fume cupboard, a suite of 4 darkrooms and high-spec equipment such as electronic test instruments, x-ray fluorescence apparatus and microscopes.

In your second and third year you'll use this versatile teaching space to perform both scripted experiments and project work.  Equipped with 20 high performance computers it makes it suitable for astronomical image processing and modelling the properties of materials.

The Beacon Observatory features a remotely operated 17-inch PlaneWave Instruments Astrograph telescope and is used year-round for research observations, where you can get involved.
