Institute for Creative and Cultural Industries

Institute for Creative and Cultural Industries strategy

The creative industries are the fastest growing sector of the UK economy, contributing £91.8bn to the economy in 2016, a figure which could rise to £128.4 billion by 2025 with the creation of up to one million new jobs by 2030.

We already hold National Portfolio Organisation status with Arts Council England and, supported by a Memorandum of Understanding, are working together to develop the creative economy in Medway.

The new Institute for Cultural and Creative Industries will support our ambitions to be a key partner in Medway’s strategic repositioning as a Creative City. The Institute will build on our long-standing longstanding strengths in the creative and cultural industries and provide a focus for the creative industries, embedding business, digital and innovation in our courses to equip our students with essential skills. Working with strategic bodies such as the Creative Industries Federation and Nesta, Kent will be recognised as a leading university for the creative industries.
