The Department of Religious Studies was ranked 7th in its subject area in REF2014, with all aspects of its research environment graded 'world-leading' or 'internationally-excellent'. In the National Student Survey 2017, over 85% of final-year Religious Studies students who responded to the survey were satisfied with the overall quality of their course.

Religious Studies at Kent explores a wide range of religions and the sacred, in both a historical and contemporary context, in a spirit of open and critical enquiry. Graduates in the field learn to develop particulaly enquiring minds, are exceptionally articulate communicators and and go on to follow a variety of career paths.
