About

Leanne Taylor qualified as a social worker in the 1990s and worked for Kent County Council as a mental health social worker and approved social worker until the late 2000s. She remains a registered social worker.

Leanne studied law as an undergraduate at Kent Law School, gaining an LLB in 2010. She has since completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice and the PGCert in Higher Education at Kent.

Although no longer a member of staff, Leanne is an honorary lecturer at the School of Social Sciences. She previously contributed to undergraduate teaching on the introduction to law for social workers and convened modules on BA and MA social work modules. Her teaching focused on areas such as law and child protection, mental capacity, mental health, adult social care, and social work.

Professional

Leanne is a judicial office holder on both the First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health), and the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal - HM Courts and Tribunals Service. She also provides training sessions to Approved Mental Health Professionals and mental health trusts/local authorities in relation to mental health law. She has provided training sessions for the Judicial College on the Equal Treatment Bench Book.
