Dr Claire Russ nee Powell

About

Claire completed her undergraduate degree at Kent in Psychology before being awarded an Economic and Social Research Council Award to study her Masters and PhD. Claire completed her PhD on the development of intra-group dynamics in children, lecturing for a short time in the department before leaving to pursue a clinical career, completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London.

Claire's areas of interest for her clinical work include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, and Tourette Syndrome, anxiety disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Phobias, and Functional Neurological Disorders/Functional Tics. 

Research interests

Claire is interested in research on alexithymia, functional symptoms, the impact of physical health issues on mental health, the treatment of phobias, and the BAME education gap.
