Congratulations to Kent Gospel Choir, which has won the annual University Gospel Choir of the Year competition for the second time in its history.
As a celebration of gospel music, talent, and the power of community, the University Gospel Choir of the Year finals took place on Saturday night (22 March) at Oasis House in Croydon.
Kent Gospel Choir previously won the competition in 2023 and is renowned for its members’ inspiring vocals and stage presence.
The student-led choir faced tough competition to win in the final, including 2024 winners BIMM Birmingham Gospel Choir, King’s College, Keele, Portsmouth, CCCU and Warwick.
On behalf of the Kent Gospel Choir, one of its’ Musical Directors Samuel Opara said: ‘Kent Gospel Choir really is a family! Our ethos is that we believe what we sing, and this is what we took to the stage. Winning University Gospel Choir of the Year really means a lot – from the first years who were there for the first time, to the third years who were having their last competition. We just went there with a heart of worship and that led to the win!’
