Kent honorary graduands for November 2024

Kent is awarding honorary degrees to four inspirational individuals during its November graduation ceremonies at Rochester and Canterbury cathedrals.

The ceremonies will take place at Rochester on Tuesday 19 November and Canterbury on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November.

The November honorary graduands are:

  • Namron Yarrum OBE (19 November in Rochester), a trailblazing performer and a founder member of London Contemporary Dance Theatre. He will be made a Doctor of Arts in recognition of his contribution and teaching of dance.
  • Stephen Harris (21 November in Canterbury), Head Chef and patron of Michelin star restaurant The Sportsman. He will be made a Doctor of the University in recognition of his work in food sustainability and how his commitment to source produce from his immediate surrounding has bought global success to the region.
  • Alex Perkins (22 November in Canterbury), a former leader of Canterbury City Council who set about a program of regeneration of the district through investment in culture. He will be made a Doctor of the University in recognition of his work in local government and support for individuals and the community across the City of Canterbury.
  • Jayne Ozanne (22 November in Canterbury), a prominent gay Christian who works to ensure full inclusion of all LGBT+ people, particularly LGBT+ people of faith. She will be made a Doctor of the University in recognition of her advocacy against discrimination.
