About

Dr Charles Owusu obtained his PhD in Accounting and Accountability in 2017 from Royal Holloway, University of London. In 2008, he graduated with a Master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the London South Bank University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the same University.

Prior to joining Kent Business School, Dr Owusu held academic positions at Brunel University of London; Birbeck University of London and Royal Holloway University of London. Dr Owusu also has industry experience having worked as a Tax and Audit Trainee at Phillips, Kobbs & Co Ltd, an accountancy firm based in Canary Wharf, London.

Research interests

Dr Owusu research interest primary focuses on critical accounting and accountability; the interaction of faith and accounting; sustainability and climate finance; and poverty alleviation in emerging economies with specific focus on global sustainable development goals.

Dr Charles Owusu welcomes prospective PhD research in the areas of critical accounting and accountability, sustainability, CSR, and climate finance, culture and control issues in NGOs and public sector organizations, SME financing, corporate governance and other related areas.
