About

John completed his undergraduate degree in Wildlife Conservation at the University of Kent in 2024, and is now undertaking an MSc by research, investigating the drivers of dispersal in the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus).
Alongside his studies, John works in the private sector as an ecological consultant, and is the Recording Officer at Kent Reptile and Amphibian Group, working to study and protect herpetofauna in Kent. 

Research interests

MSc thesis title - Population dynamics and drivers of dispersal in the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus).

Herpetological research and species conservation, as well as human-wildlife coexistence issues. John’s current research is aiming to contribute to a system where great crested newts are protected in the face of residential and infrastructural development, and any impacts to them and their habitat are appropriately mitigated for.
John is also interested in neotropical ecology, having completed research projects in Peru and Costa Rica.
