Dr Laura Kor is a conservation scientist and consultant working across research, policy and practice to address real-world biodiversity challenges. As an Innovation Fellow at DICE, she works with public, private and non-profit organisations on conservation planning, spatial decision support, biodiversity policy and applied research. Her expertise spans plant and habitat conservation, biodiversity impact assessment and management, and spatial and area-based conservation planning.
Laura has experience across the consultancy, academic, government and NGO sectors. Before joining DICE, she worked at a global engineering consultancy, where she led a specialist International Biodiversity Team and advised projects in the UK and internationally on biodiversity impacts, net gain and no net loss, mitigation and biodiversity offsetting. She is currently seconded part-time to Defra's International Biodiversity and Climate Directorate, further developing her experience at the science–policy interface.
Laura completed her PhD at King's College London and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 2023. Her research focused on the conservation of useful plant species in Colombia, combining biogeographical analysis with local knowledge and ethnobotanical research, and included a global evaluation of Important Plant Area
