Tell us about your career path since graduation.

Since graduation, I have focused on building a career in architectural sustainability, emphasizing the role of architecture in shaping a sustainable future. To pursue this goal, I joined Northshore, a carbon-neutral company, as a sustainability team member, gaining valuable experience in sustainable practices and innovative solutions for the built environment.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Working remotely provides me with a flexible work environment, which I greatly appreciate. This setup has allowed me to effectively harness my knowledge while enhancing my communication skills across interdisciplinary teams. The flexibility not only supports productivity but also fosters collaboration, enabling me to contribute meaningfully to diverse projects and adapt my expertise to various contexts, ensuring successful outcomes in a dynamic and ever-evolving professional landscape.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

One of my key professional highlights has been joining the Building Sustainability team at Northshore. I have successfully applied my academic knowledge to impactful sustainability projects, gaining valuable experience and making a real difference. Furthermore, it helped me to be a member of professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

I joined the Building Sustainability team at Northshore through the Employability Reward Program offered by Kent. This opportunity enabled me to gain valuable experience in sustainability. I continue to work in this role, contributing to impactful projects and applying my academic knowledge to real-world challenges in sustainability and environmental stewardship.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

Utilize the resources and support activities available at the university. They are essential assets for achieving academic and career success.

Did you get involved in any extracurricular activities as a student?

During my studies, I curated the postgraduate section of the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning's End of Year Show, and volunteered with the Kentish Countryside Partnership on environmental conservation projects. I supported the university during open days and graduations, received the Gold Global Skills Award, and presented in a postgraduate talk series. Additionally, I promoted the university through the 'Face of Kent' campaign and advised on proposals for its 2026-2028 graphics campaign.

Do you have a favourite memory from your time at Kent?

I have many cherished memories from Kent, but one that stands out is the serene view of Canterbury Cathedral juxtaposed against the university fields—a sight that always left a lasting impression.

Is there anything you would do differently if you could repeat your time at Kent?

If I could repeat my time at Kent, I would organize more flat parties and group travels, creating even more opportunities to bond with peers and explore new experiences together.

Are you still in touch with other Kent alumni or academics?

I stay connected with most of my academics and colleagues from Kent through social media, maintaining valuable relationships and fostering ongoing professional and academic interactions.

What are your future ambitions?

My ambition lies in fostering a holistic approach to sustainability within architecture, emphasizing the integration of social justice in design. By prioritizing socio-environmental and economic responsibility, I aim to create spaces that are not only sustainable and accessible but also inclusive. Through innovative architectural solutions, I seek to address urban challenges, enhancing the quality of life while ensuring that built environments contribute positively to communities and the planet.
