The Common Study in Critical Criminology
About
Information about the next Common Study Programme in 2010
The Common Study Programme adds an exciting international dimension to postgraduate study of Criminology at the University of Kent. During this programme, students from different countries across the globe come together in a relaxed environment to exchange ideas and present the research that they have been conducting during their postgraduate study. Hosted by a different University from within the programme each semester, the sessions are student-focused and provide an environment in which MA and Ph.D. students can make contacts and discuss familiar Criminological issues on a global level. These opportunities are complemented by lectures from key note speakers from each of the Universities and a lively social programme.
The Common Study Programme is open to all post-graduate students in criminology. Doctoral and masters students from other programmes may also participate by special arrangement.
The programme of study includes attendance at ‘Common Sessions’, the opportunity to participate in funded periods of exchange studies at another centre, and the chance to receive a CSP diploma through writing a dissertation examined by viva with Common Study Programme staff. Students who attend the requisite number of sessions will be awarded a CSP certificate.
Every autumn and spring there is a meeting, or Common Session, held at one of the centres in which students and staff present papers in a friendly atmosphere. Visits to local facilities of criminological interest are also arranged.
