Based in the historic religious centre of Canterbury, the Department of Religious Studies explores a wide range of forms of religion and the sacred in a spirit of open, critical enquiry. It offers a flexible and highly-regarded undergraduate degree programme, taught MAs which provide more advanced and specialised study, and a successful programme of doctoral training and supervision.
Members of staff are internationally-recognised in their areas of research expertise, and the Department has a strong track record of securing external research funding. It is committed to taking academic work beyond the boundaries of the university and is currently working on projects with organizations including the United Nations, the British Museum and the British Council.
