Critical perspectives research led teaching
Kent Law School is a dynamic and cosmopolitan place to study a variety of taught and research degrees with an international and contemporary focus.
Students are immersed in a culture of critical research with Kent Law School widely regarded as a centre of excellence in legal research and teaching, as evidenced by our rating as the 6th best Law School in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.
'My studies at Kent have been a wonderful experience. I’ve enjoyed immensely the intellectual challenge, the environment and the people. The time that I spent at Kent has left a huge positive imprint on me and has helped me to look at and analyse the world from a different perspective.'
Silvia Deleu, former LLM student
We offer students the opportunity to create an LLM programme that best suits their interests and needs, as well as providing a well established series of specialist programmes. The Combined Title LLM allows students to combine any two specialisms offered by the Law School (International Commercial Law and European Law for example) and have this recognised as the title of their degree, and the general LLM in Law enables students to pick from the full range of modules within the Law School to tailor make their LLM experience.
Kent Law School is wonderfully cosmopolitan, with students from over 80 countries studying within the department, and full-time staff from over 15 countries. Our international character is represented in our courses and in their location, with courses offered at our Canterbury campus which is a short distance from London and Continental Europe, and at our Brussels campus in the political heart of Europe.
Students are increasingly able to take advantage of both locations by choosing to study an LLM programme at both the Canterbury and Brussels campuses. In doing so they spend one teaching term at each campus, returning to their designated 'home' campus to complete their dissertation.
Kent Law School is proud to host the following research centres; the Centre for Critical International Law, the Kent Centre for Law, Gender and Sexuality, and the Kent Centre for European and Comparative Law.
