Speaking after the ceremony Kevin Stuckey, Residences & Conferences Manager, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to win the award for the fifth year running. Continuous investment in our accommodation and a fair pricing policy, are key reasons for our year-on-year success in attracting groups to the University. However, this outstanding achievement really is a great public recognition of our fantastic, dedicated staff who work so hard across campus to maintain such high standards, year in year out’.
Set in 450 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the historic city of Canterbury, the University offers some 4,000 rooms on campus. In 2011, £25 million was invested in refurbishing and redeveloping Keynes College which delivered an additional 500 bedrooms. The University offers groups a wide range of accommodation options – from self-catering flats (each sleeping 5/6 people) or single standard or en-suite rooms in halls of residence on a room-only or b&b basis.
Group rates start from only £17.75 per person (self-catering).

Masters World Cup 2012
August 2012
'John Stuart, Chairman of the World Cup Organising Committee comments:
We are delighted to be hosting our Inaugural Hockey Masters World Cup in Kent this summer. We have chosen Polo Farm Sports Club at Canterbury, home of Canterbury Hockey Club, to host this World Cup. It is a premier centre of sports development in the South East of England, and can offer our 1200 international team participants wonderful top-class facilities in a magnificent location, just two miles to the east of Canterbury. Equally the University of Kent is an ideal ‘Athletes Village’ for our 60 hockey teams from all around the world, offering such a high standard of accommodation and the opportunity for participants to live together in one place and enjoy social time together, yet be so conveniently located both for Polo Farm and for the city of Canterbury’. It is anticipated that World cup will be the largest international hockey event ever staged in England and we hope it will be a fantastic exhibition of top class hockey. It takes place in the period between the Olympics and Paralympics and will be a great opportunity to watch some top class international hockey, especially for those people who didn’t manage to get Olympic tickets.
