Why study Ecology and Conservation at Kent?

We take conservation out of the classroom and into the wild. By joining DICE, a world-leading centre for research, you'll dive straight into hands-on fieldwork, and gain the skills needed to tackle real-world environmental challenges. 

Protecting nature, one wild idea at a time

At Kent you will be part of a globally recognised research institute where you will learn the science and the practice of protecting nature.

Through a mix of lectures, seminars, labs and real fieldwork both on campus and around the world, you will explore how ecosystems work, the threats they face and the ways humans and wildlife interact.

If you are studying our undergraduate courses, you will have the chance to conduct original research in your final year, giving you both the practical experience and academic grounding to pursue careers in conservation science, wildlife management, environmental consultancy or further postgraduate study.

Gold for groundbreaking research

DICE alumna Michelle Anagnostou was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal as well as the University of Waterloo Alumni Gold Medal, for her “groundbreaking research” using “financial data to combat illegal wildlife trade networks”.
