Student Success Excellence in Education

Excellence in Education

What is Excellence in Education?

These programmes are designed to run alongside structural changes through Diversity Mark or reflective teaching.

Excellence in Education is a programme designed to propel select students who are currently achieving below a 2:1 into a 2:1 or above. The programme targets students in our APP (Access & Participation Plan) target cohorts who generally achieve between a 50%-62% grade average. The percentages depend on course grade boundaries and may differ from school to school.

Schools and local delivery Student Success staff work with these students providing additional skills workshops and opportunities to excel in university.  Students are supported in acquiring vital knowledge and skills, tailored to their needs, in order to get a head start in the next academic term or year.

What are we doing?

Working with schools and their support teams to ensure sessions and workshops are planned around the needs of students, equipping them with the confidence and knowledge to excel to provide a kick start into their academic year.

How can you get involved?

If you'd like to get involved with Excellence in Education and would like some support from the Student Success Team, you can contact your local Student Success delivery team who will be very happy to assess your suitability for the programme and how we can best support you in your journey at Kent.

How does this make a difference?

We measure data from across the institution to evaluate impact. In 2023-24, 25% of students who engaged in Excellence in Education achieved good degrees.
