Elise Dyer
Elise is a Clinical Lecturer and Deputy Director of the Clinical Associate Psychology (CAP) Apprenticeship Programme, where she plays a central role in shaping the next generation of psychological practitioners. Dually qualified as a CBT Therapist and a Clinical Associate Psychologist, she brings a rich blend of clinical experience and academic leadership to her work.
Her clinical career has spanned both NHS Adult Mental Health Services and CAMHS, where she supported individuals experiencing a wide range of common mental health difficulties and worked alongside children and young people presenting with complex psychological needs. This breadth of experience informs both her teaching and her research, grounding her academic work firmly in the realities of clinical practice.
Elise holds two master's degrees, a research-focused MSc and a clinically-oriented MSc in children's and young people's mental health alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT. She is currently undertaking a PhD, further deepening her scholarly contribution to the field.
Elise's current research interests sit at the intersection of organisational psychology and clinical practice. She is particularly interested in compassionate leadership and the conditions that make workplaces psychologically safe or toxic. She is also exploring how labelling emotions may function as a mechanism for emotion regulation, with implications for both clinical intervention and everyday wellbeing.
Elise serves as Deputy Director of the CAP Master's Apprenticeship Programme and holds a range of responsibilities central to its operation and development, including:
