Canterbury Food Bank has been announced as this year’s Social Impact Coffee charity partner following a student and staff vote.

Social Impact Coffee is available on the Canterbury campus at the Gulbenkian Café and the Tuk Tuk in Hut 8, Turing College. From every coffee purchase at these outlets, 65% of profits will go directly towards supporting local individuals and families.

Adrian Evans, Founder of Social Impact Coffee CIC, said: ‘From day one, Social Impact Coffee has been built on the belief that everyday choices, like buying a cup of coffee, can create meaningful change.

Our partnership with the University of Kent is a brilliant example of that in action. Knowing that 65% of profits from coffee sales will go directly to support Canterbury Food Bank brings real purpose to what we do.

It’s not just about great coffee, it’s about creating a sustainable model that supports communities, tackles food insecurity, and shows that business can be a force for good. We’re incredibly proud to be working alongside Canterbury Food Bank to turn daily habits into tangible impact.’

Adam Ratcliffe, Trustee and Fundraising Chair at Canterbury Food Bank, was delighted with this announcement and commented: “The partnership with Social Impact Coffee at the University of Kent is really exciting. Receiving 65% of the profits from coffee sales is not only innovative, but it also provides a consistent and meaningful source of funding that directly supports people in our community facing hardship.

What makes this partnership so powerful is its simplicity – staff and students buying their daily coffee are contributing to something much bigger. It’s a model of social impact that truly works, and we’re incredibly grateful to Adrian and the team at Social Impact Coffee for their commitment to making a difference where it matters most.”

Canterbury Food Bank is a local charity providing emergency food parcels to individuals and families experiencing financial crisis across the Canterbury district, including Whitstable, Herne Bay and surrounding villages.

This partnership with Canterbury Food Bank will run until late September 2026*, after which staff and students will vote for the next charity (October 2026 – September 2027).
