Kent's stunning wildlife

A nature photography competition to showcase Kent's amazing green spaces, wild plants and animals has been launched by the University.

The competition – among celebrations to mark the University’s 50th anniversary – is open to anyone living in the county. Participants are encouraged to submit photos showing what they love about the county’s wildlife and natural places.

The winning photo could be taken on your doorstep, on your journey home or on a day out to the countryside or coast. Each image should also be accompanied with a short description that sums up why the photo’s subject is important to you.

The competition is being run by the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE), part of the School of Anthropology and Conservation. It is funded by the University and the Wildwood Trust.

Prizes include:

  • Winner in 16 and over category: £100 + Wildwood Photo Day (worth £79)
  • Winner in 15 and under category: £100 + Wildwood Photo Day (worth £79)
  • Runner-up in 16 and over category: £50
  • Runner-up in 15 and under category: £50
  • Five ‘Highly Commended’ prizes: free entry for one person to Wildwood.

Competition closing date is 31 August 2015. Full details on how to enter are on the School of Anthropology and Conservation’s website.
