Currently in its third year this extremely popular and not-to-be-missed event will bring together Kent business leaders, local government decision-makers and academic experts to discuss regional challenges and promote Kent as a sustainable, innovative, forward-thinking and outward-looking county.
Now regarded as the County’s flagship event in cross-sector collaboration, this year’s Summit will focus once again on four priority areas for the county:
- transport infrastructure
- placemaking for Kent
- skills development
Throughout the day, delegates will have the chance to hear from a number of high-profile speakers including:
- Phil Eckersley, Agent, South East, Bank of England
- Jagjit Chadha, Professor of Economics at the University of Kent and Director of National Institute of Economic and Social Research
- Benita Matofska, author of Generation Share: the change-makers building the sharing economy
- Professor Anand Menon, Chair, Research Institute UK in a Changing Europe
Speaker topics include: innovation and productivity; sustainability and the sharing economy; and the new political and economic relationship of the UK with the EU.
In the morning, delegates will be able to attend a range of good practice workshops, led by a variety of academic experts, heads of industry and government representatives. These workshops will draw upon actions identified at last year’s event, review what has been achieved through cross-sector collaboration over the past year, and assess where new partnerships could be formed.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox said: ‘The Kent Business Summit is a great opportunity for the University to demonstrate its commitment to working in partnership with organisations of all sizes across Kent and Medway. It also enables all of us to learn more about how established and new collaborations and partnerships help bring valuable resources into the region, contribute to economic growth and ensure the long term sustainability and quality of life in Kent.’
The Summit is organised by Kent Business School in partnership with the Institute of Directors (IoD), the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Locate in Kent (LiK), with support from head sponsor Crowe and media partner KM Media Group. It follows on from the highly successful 2019 summit, which saw more than 350 business leaders and key decision-makers taking part.
