Accreditation body praises KBS for its business and community engagement, the success of its Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and focus on student employability.

Kent Business School (KBS) has received accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), the longest-serving global accreditation body for business schools.

Receiving the accreditation is a huge success for KBS as only 5% of the world’s schools offering business degrees at bachelor level or higher have achieved AACSB International accreditation.

AACSB accreditation provides a framework of 15 international standards against which business schools around the world assess the quality of their educational services. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.

AACSB praised KBS for a number of its initiatives that came to light during its review process. This included its business and community engagement and close alignment between its research output and the School’s mission. Its Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) were also cited as being particularly successful, accounting for 10 percent of KTP among business schools in the UK, while its ASPIRE and Business Start-Up Journey programs that cover entrepreneurship, sustainable development goals and increase students employability were also praised.

Martin Meyer, Dean of Kent Business School and Professor of Business & Innovation said: ‘I am delighted we have achieved AACSB accreditation. This is testament to the hard work we have undertaken to develop our strengths as a school that champions sustainable innovation, and develops ethical and responsible graduates who make a difference.’

The success is the latest for KBS after it was awarded the Small Business Charter in December last year in recognition of the support it provides to small businesses
