This collection covers 17th and 18th century English news media available from the British Library. It includes more than 1,000 pamphlets, proclamations, newsbooks and newspapers from the period.
This collection charts the development of newspapers, from their beginning as irregularly published transcriptions of Parliamentary debates and coffee house newsbooks to their current form.
They include English provincial, Irish, Scottish and a handful of papers from British colonies, in the Americas and Asia, shedding light on political, educational and economic situations.
