If you do not have the qualifications, study skills or English language ability you need to take the degree of your choice, you can apply for one of our foundation programmes.
We offer two types of foundation programmes: the International Foundation Programme (IFP), and an honours degree with an integrated foundation year.
Applicants can study the International Foundation Programme at the University of Kent International College (UK IC), run in collaboration with Oxford International on our Canterbury Campus. The International Foundation programme is for international students who may not meet the academic or English language requirements. You can check the entry requirements for the country you have studied in on the Oxford International College webpage.
Applicants for the International Foundation Programme are required to have a UKVI-recognized SELT (Secure English Language Test). These must be taken at one of the UKVI approved test centres.
For honours degrees with a foundation year, entry requirements vary depending on the degree you are applying to. You can check the requirements on our foundation programmes webpage.
Applicants will also need to meet University of Kent's standard English language requirements. These are set at a level that meets both the academic needs of the University and the minimum requirements for a Tier 4 (General) student visa.
Applicants for the International Foundation Programme or pre-sessional English programmes are required to have a UKVI-recognised SELT (Secure English Language Test). These must be taken at one of the UKVI-approved test centres.
If you need to raise your English language skills, you can attend one of our intensive pre-sessional courses in English for Academic Purposes. Satisfactory achievement on one of these courses can be used to meet Kent's English language entry requirements in place of other external language examinations.
Our friendly team is waiting to help you with any queries you have.
The University offers a wide variety of financial support and scholarships, including awards for academic, musical and sporting excellence. Scholarships including dedicated scholarships for our international students.

You will be asked to pay a £5,000 deposit prior to receiving your CAS. If you have received your offer and have not yet paid the international deposit you can pay via our online store:
• Applicants new to Kent
• Applicants who are currently studying at Kent
The deposit payment is recorded on your CAS document and deducted from your overall tuition fees.
Applicants who provide verified documents confirming that they will be fully funded by a scholarship or sponsored by a national/government-based organisation, will not be required to pay the Tuition Fee Deposit. Applicants who previously met their deposit condition will not be required to make a further payment to get the CAS. The process is as follows:
• Meet all of your conditions (as above, the deposit is not added as a condition of offer).
• Accept your unconditional offer
• The CAS team will then send a further information request for the deposit payment (if not already paid), as well as other information requests required to receive your CAS. Please see our Student Immigration pages for further details about how to get your CAS.
You can find further information about the tuition fee deposit and deposit deadlines here.
If you have any questions about this payment, please get in touch with our Admissions Team through your online application portal or email us via international@kent.ac.uk.
