Were'Open

Kent Master’s and doctoral students are welcomed into a strong intellectual and social community which is rich in culture and diversity and extends across our academic schools, faculties, campuses and four European centres.

As a Kent postgraduate student, you will engage with the academic community and research environment of your home academic school which will provide you with high-quality teaching, supervision, facilities and opportunities for interaction with your peers. Alongside this, the Graduate School welcomes you into the University’s wider postgraduate community which will provide you with a broad variety of opportunities to meet postgraduate students from other disciplines, forge new friendship groups and support networks, disseminate your research and develop your skills by engaging with our training programmes and other activities.  Both academic and professional service staff members from across the University contribute to the delivery of our workshops and events meaning that this community provides you with access to a broader range of experts from across the University.

Our own postgraduate students play an important role in shaping the development of the Kent postgraduate community. The Graduate School works closely with the Graduate Student Association and postgraduate student representatives on initiatives and many of our activities are student-driven and co-ordinated with the support of the Graduate School Team. We are always keen to hear your feedback and suggestions for other activities you would like to see introduced. Please contact graduateschool@kent.ac.uk with your ideas or submit a proposal for an event to the Postgraduate Experience Awards.

Kent postgraduate students also join the wider community of the Eastern Academic Research Consortium which is a partnership with the Universities of East Anglia and Essex. As part of this collaboration, our postgraduate students have the opportunity to apply for funding to attend workshops or events at the other two universities or to coordinate events aimed increasing the visibility and relevance of the Eastern ARC which will unite postgraduate students from across the partnership.
